Structural Project Engineer

Are you a skilled Structural Project Engineer with expertise in shipbuilding and a strong conceptual mindset? If so, we are looking for you!

Function

As a Structural Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design and basic engineering of custom-built superyachts. Collaborating in multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure that every project meets the highest standards in the yacht-building industry. Your work will combine technical expertise, creativity, and innovative problem-solving to turn visionary designs into reality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop primary structural plans and global structural designs in the early project stages.
  • Represent the structural discipline in project teams, ensuring seamless integration with other disciplines.
  • Maintain a balance between overarching project objectives and detailed execution.
  • Coordinate with shipyards, owner teams, classification societies, and suppliers.
  • Utilize modern 3D CAD systems to process information and specifications accurately.
  • Perform strength and stiffness calculations and devise innovative solutions for integrating complex components.
  • Ensure designs are feasible, monitor detail engineering, and oversee construction processes.
  • Communicate effectively to uphold quality control and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to colleagues in your field, offering advice and technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Higher education (BSc+ level) in a relevant field of engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in structural engineering within shipbuilding, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in modern 3D CAD, PLM, and/or FEM software.
  • Expertise in ship design, regulations (LR, REG LY Code, SOLAS), and FEM/vibration analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, confidence, and the ability to persuade others.
  • Excellent English skills (Dutch is a plus).
