Deck Outfitting Engineer

Function

In this position you will be responsible for designing and engineering the outer decks of ships, including lifeboat areas, anchor systems and mooring arrangements. Your work will ensure these areas are functional, ergonomic and meet regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with a team of engineers to develop designs, calculations and drawings that guide the construction process.

Specific duties in this role include:

• Preparing 2D and 3D engineering drawings using Cadmatic, 3DExperience or Catia.
• Produce necessary documentation, including: deck arrangements, lists, fabrication and mounting drawings, supporting calculations
• Contacting clients and subcontractors regarding technical issues.
• Being responsible for the quality of the prepared engineering work.
• Having contact with classification societies.

Requirements

• Having at least a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar.
• At least 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in engineering outfitting systems.
• Experience with 2D CAD and 3D CAD systems such as CADMATIC or CATIA.
• Knowledge of Class and Statutory requirements, as well as outfitting systems, preferably within the maritime or offshore industries.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
